Summer 2013 at Robbins Community Center

Summer 2013 is a new beginning for the Robbins Community Center. In addition to enormous participant growth and implementing new programs; this summer, RCC is the place to be for Summer Fun. This Summer Robbins Community Help Agency, Inc. will host a day camp with before and after care, Health Rocks, a sports camp, a basketball camp, art classes, and national acclaimed New Generation Fancy Drill Team.

Summer Camp: The annual summer camp program at the Robbins Community Center will began registration in May 2013. This year’s plans for the camp are bigger and better than ever before for children ages 6 to 14. Included in the small one- time registration fee is breakfast, lunch, camp T-shirt, treats, events, and competition prizes. For parents that need a safe and nurturing place for their children in the early morning or late afternoons, depending on the level of demand there will be before and after care this summer.

Health Rocks is a new health programThis program will be unleashed in June of 2013. Youth will engage in 60 minutes active workshops learning how important it is to build self-confidence, and discard risky behavior. Teen and adult facilitators share hands-on activities that educate youth on the consequences of tobacco, alcohol and drug use.

Summer Sports Camp is our Multi-Sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. We will inspire learning through a range of physical activities and game; our Multi Sport camp is delivered in a low pressure, yet high energy environment, allowing your child to excel in 7 different sports. Our highly trained and certified coaches will train your child on one sport per week, at the end of the week they will participate in a in a competition game and show their skills that they have learned for that week.

Summer Basketball Clinic: If your child loves basketball and want to play it well, you need to be at our R.C.C. Summer Basketball clinic. Our certified coaches will teach your child basketball skills, leadership, and confidence that will take their game to a higher level. Each participant will develop skills in shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, ball handling and much more.

Art Classes this summer are taught by professional artist Deon Steward and will help to close out the summer with a Youth Art Show.  Campers will learn the basics of arts and design. Students will learn how to express their artistic abilities. The goal of implementing art classes and preforming arts into the summer camp is to educate campers about liberal and cultural discipline.

New Generation Fancy Drill Team is a paramilitary precision drill team with a marching drill corps. This drill team is established to provide a non-traditional, recreational, physical fitness, educational, and cultural enrichment experience for “at risk” youth who were not interested in traditional programs, giving them a positive alternative to the negative lures of the streets.
